Poems by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

You Never Know!

You never know
How and when
The existence will start
Using you for its purpose

You never know
How and when
You will be filled with abundance
And you will start raining
Quenching the thirst of many

You never know
How and when
You will be full of
Fruits and shade
And travellers will take
Shelter and food from you

You never know
How and when
You will be full with
Love and light
And you will start spreading
The fragrance of beauty to everyone

You never know
How and when
The death will come
And make you deathless
And life will start
Flowing out of you

You never know
How and when.... Really !
Just Be

Joy is dissolving... losing your identity.
Rest is dissolving... losing your identity.
Love is dissolving... losing your identity.
Just Be !

Relax and just be.
That doesn't mean be lazy... No!
Be very busy... and just be!

The events come and go, they perish like flowers.
But every event and every person contains some honey.
Like a bee, just take the honey out of every event and every moment and move on.
Be like a busy bee and be in the Being.
I Promise

If I had to promise you something, what would it be?

I can’t promise that you would always be comfortable
Because comfort brings boredom and discomfort.

I can’t promise that all your desires will be fulfilled
Because desires whether fulfilled or unfulfilled bring frustration.

I can’t promise that there will always be good times
Because it is the tough times that make us appreciate joy.

I can’t promise that we will be rich or famous or powerful
Because they can all be pathways to misery.

I can’t promise that we will always be together
Because it is separation that makes togetherness so wonderful.

Yet if you are willing to walk with me,
If you are willing to value love over everything else

I promise that this will be the most rich and fulfilling life possible.
I promise your life will be an eternal celebration,
I promise you I will cherish you more than a king cherishes his crown,
And I shall love you more than a mother loves her newborn.

If you are willing to walk into my arms,
If you are willing to live in my heart,
You will find the one you have waited forever.
You will meet yourself in my arms

I promise.
You and Me

Words are too small to convey the truth,
Yet they can trigger the flames of wisdom,
Shower comfort on the intense longing,
Raise cheers of joy and make you know
I treasure your love for me.

Like god his creation,
The root its trunk,
Unknown, unheard, unseen,
In the silent chamber of heart
I am in you as you,
You are in me as me!
